Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology | Bethel

This institute provides for EvKB inpatients and outpatients, with particular emphasis on the clinics in Bethel. Radiology covers all image-producing procedures: apart from conventional x-ray diagnostics, we also perform sonography and computer tomography (CT) for example. With magnetic resonance tomography/imaging (MRT/MRI) layered images of the body are produced, without radiation, by means of a magnetic field and high-frequency impulses.  Angiography allows us to detect blocked or constricted vessels in all parts of the body. By employing a variety of procedures these are then opened, widened or splinted/braced.

Diagnostics in nuclear medicine utilise faintly radioactive substances to obtain information about the functional state and blood supply of organs. An unavoidable radioactive contamination of the patient is kept at a minimum. One of the most frequent and best-known nuclear medicine examinations is thyroid gland scintiscanning, which can depict the condition of knotty growths as well as the complete thyroid gland tissue. The results of such examinations are an important basis for a decision about any necessary therapy.

A further focal point of the institute is our Department for Neuroradiology.

Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology | Johannesstift

At the Johannesstift, radiological examinations are a central building block of our diagnostic spectrum. By employing a variety of procedures, our clinicians can take a “picture” of your illness and initiate the appropriate treatment.

In our Radiological Institute at the Johannesstift, clinicians and medical-technical assistants are responsible for your care. Whenever necessary, our department “goes mobile” and produces x-ray images in other clinical areas, such as in ITU or in an operating theatre.

In addition to images of bones and soft tissue, we produce images of the female breast (mammography), the abdominal cavity or the urinary tract, to name but a few. We also carry out specialised x-ray examinations, such as the portrayal of blood vessels by means of an x-ray contrast agent (angiography) or the removal of tissue and fluid samples under x-ray monitoring. Our computer tomograph represents one of the most important technical developments.
